Question:
Is Facebook blocked in the UAE?

I've been trying to open it for a couple of days now & I keep getting a "Network error" or "cannot display this page". I've tried opening it from different computers & different servers but I still can't access it.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

I had the same problem. The strange thing is that when you try to access www.facebook.com you get network error and everything is fine when you access www.new.facebook.com.

I hope this helps you...

P.S. And Luke I do not know how you dare crawl under your stone with that level of intelligence.

maybe you have a virus or bad proxy configuration

Its never blocked , try the main facebook homepage

I think I figured out whats going, your router must be communicating with a "physical" proxy that uses an old list in which facebook may have been blocked for some reason.

Just simply disconnect and reconnect , it should change the proxy server to the next available one. Keep doing this until you hit one that has an updated list.

Etisalat has literally 100s of proxy servers , you don't know which one is up to date and which one is not (just like Forrest Gump's box of chocolate ;)

G,

I know Kuwait & Qatar get their internet capacity with Etisalat because its cheaper that way, but I don't know if they have a common proxy server. Its a possibility given that.

Hmmm, does Kuwait play with Etisalat?

Coz I live in Kuwait, and I'm getting the same Network Error all the time (on both www.facebook.com and www.new.facebook.com)

Network Error (tcp_error)

People trying to find a brand-new task are usually searching for greater pay, better benefits or an even simpler commute.

However, why don't search for a part-time genuine work from house, job that allows you to work from another location? Therefore, if you're looking for a genuine method to make cash online from the comfort of your very own house, then you have come to the best place, use this website https://tr.im/LEQQw for making money for a better and serene life.

This can be useful to someone like ordinary employee wishing to make extra money to cover the monthly expenses more comfortably, or a retired male wishing to much better use his extra time. Do not worry, others can benefit, teens who want some pocket modification for their day-to-day activities or moms that need to remain at homeĀ£house to take care of their children.

With this site you can get up to $500 for a survey, you simply need time, pacience and a PC with internet connecion, that easy.

Network Error is what you get when there's a problem with the website's server, not your own PC or your internet. I work online; our website would give that error when we crashed or had some major site updates going on. Blocked sites here clearly say 'THIS SITE IS BLOCKED'.

My facebook is working fine right now. Refresh your cache (if you're using IE, it's under Tools -> Options)

PS yeah, Luke, you're not funny at all. You must be American. You probably voted for McCain.

yeah i've been having the same problem, and have heard other people saying it as well. i can access it from time to time but never get past the first page... i wonder if this means they're gonna block it, although i think i remember another time when facebook was acting like this (but it didn't last for this long).

Etisalat is playing games. Facebook is fine it's just through Etisalat's proxies you cannon access it. it will keep giving you network error

Download this program

http://www.download.com/Freegate/3000-2085_4-10415391.html

when you do just double click it and surf facebook.

If you use Firefox set your proxy to 127.0.0.1 port:8580 ((Keep the freegate on)) then facebook should open fine

Dunno if it's blocked on purpose, but it certainly isn't working for me here in Sharjah.

I can get it through a proxy and I can get it through our work VPN (which bypasses Etisalat)...I just can't get it directly.

Etisalat from time to time have issues they don't understand and can't fix...simple stuff like DNS fubars. I hope this is just one of those cases.

You have to put a little burqa over your picture and make sure your husband is with you when you log on.

And try not to express any opinions.
