With all respect: All the fees and or "hidden tax" are applicable on expats. Locals are VERY good taking care off by the government. For example, in Sharjah they are free of paying energy bill, which causes the extreme high energy bill for the NOT locals.

It's still better and cheaper then my own home country, but I only wonder where we are going to in the future............................................

I do agree with u on the general aspect that no one should b complainin cause it doesnt make sense

but about taxes:

most of companies here in uae charges their labours with the fees ( source : MOL officials)

the quality/cost raport of gov services kinda low,, anyway i think i m goin wrong answerin this question so i ll start over lol

gcc work market shouldnt be compared to other geographical places, GCC is a dynamic market offers short term work oppurtinities, and prefers to avoid any defenitive settlement of exapts to keep always place for newer younger cheaper manpower.

living cost is real cheaper in france and germany and I mnot even talkin about the standards but its not comparable

my advice for people livin in gcc is to focus on whats real, acheivin somethin at work level and enjoy their stay lol.

about remindin different nationalities that their own countries arent better so shut up, this is kinda useless blabla so better not to compare and keepin it real, UAE concerning expats is a market to work and a place (very warm and welcommin) to enjoy and basta

People who doesn't know they believe that being an emaraati is it the best in the world... they think emaraati people have so many facilities, they believe locals are free taxes, they believe locals get houses for free, they believe many things which truly are not right...they are only rumouros and "tales" !

Do also emaraati have to work in order to support they families, they also have to pay bills ( no more free taxes that was happening in the very old past .... now no more ).

So everyone has to pay but in a different percentage !

too much said and done ,

in short every one migrates to places for better life .

if its not the case no one will migrate .

the other point is that population is irriversible . some countries have slowed their growth rate so much earlier that now they cant reverse it . even if they want to they cant get their population to increase the growth rate. this gives opportunity for countries with higher growth rate to migrate . naturally , liek any other animal or plant species....

no point in trying to be insightful or reasoning "around" with such ppl,as its a waste of energy! i mean ppl of rats origins & who ever likes them

i think oppression is needed a sadistic militant fundamentalist & fascist government is just so friggin good for ppl like that, bugging em,spying on em,providing a sort of a secret police, torture chambers or "farms" and even suddenly "such" people will "disappear"

@hans: once i saw a local woman at this silly program called operah, saying that "all" locals r free from energy bill, back then i thought that woman was talking about

qatar or something, now ur saying locals in sharjah,r free from it,well im not free of energy bill, seriously i start to think im living at the "wrong" side of the country! or maybe i was officially registered as "bangalie!!!"???

@gearaz: regarding ur comment about indians/chinese growing populations...

unlike before, this is becoming a burden to their own nations today, and for the rest of the world too & its limited "resources" this "increasing" this "over the norms"

population is a serious "problem" to everything on this earth,no wonder their own countries trying so "much" to get rid of em,by sending em here,if not then,to any industrial countries, like america, japan ect, actions must be taken to limit the world population, regardless of how

for example a "limited" nuclear strikes,or some bacteriological,or chemical against the most "inhabited centers" & only carried out by UN or some "unholy" group bearing the responsibility for the entire world,so nobody will take things in a "personal" level

also i like the way u think regarding mars

@bnt el7alal: tell em!

@billi: first of all i really wish the best for u and ur family, but what in my heart is something and reality is something else thus im really assuming u were being sarcastic, maybe if pakistan or india has the "basic" social rights for their own citizens, none of the issues u were dealing with would happen, better yet no one will come here at all dont u think?

so ppl from all over the world migrates to canada, new zealand, france, america,uk,japan ect...does that mean the ppl from those nations r not competitive too?

besides the small "bourgeoisie" type or friends u might know of educated pakistanies in dubai and with all my respect, but most pakistanies in UAE r "taxi drivers"? so competitive in what? driving skills? sorry but i cannot even give u that, locals r famous with their driving skills

@monika : ur a beautiful person, inside out,but world is not,and only according to its own historical records, and signs were left here and there by some malign hands, that made us realise how toilet this earth is,thus love and adoration we felt for "thee" :-)

Dubai's JAILS are packed with expats because your UAE court "system" is a piece of crap. There is NO justice in the UAE. Rather than spend the majority of your time in here blah blahing about absolute crap day after day and making these annoying Yahoo posts, why don't you start making some "smart" comments in the horrible UAE papers and inform the public about the crap court system. Have you ever once visited a "trial" here? It's a JOKE. Stop deluding yourself that expats think this is some kind of dreamland filled with ideals they can't achieve in their home countries. For most people the visit here was pure marketing HYPE. The reality is that this is one of the WORST places for expats in the WORLD. Get your nose out of Yahoo Questions and start to connect FOR REAL with expats and see if you can REALLY find out how they genuinely FEEL about being in the UAE. THEY HATE IT but they are STUCK here and will LEAVE at the FIRST OPPORTUNITY.

Please make up your mind what do you want to call them "Pakistanis" or "Pakis" Thanks

"Pakistanis are eager to leave their corrupt country" so the UAE is not corrupt?, u referring to ALL pakistanis in pakistan, i heard different that Pakistanis are proud of there country, there military strength, there improving economy.

who said everyone wants to come to Dubai or the UAE? prove it, maybe to state why so many arabs want to go to USA, and live side by side even though Americans use them.

"and Indian accountants/ITs line up to leave their overpopulated homeland" Most of my Indian freinds are happy with India, as it is economically strong, every global company is there.

Yeah Indians are very low income workers but most have good jobs.

UAE can NOT build and grow the economy on their own me and YOU know that, they need talent from out side.

Edit: Yes Billi i agree with you, emiratis have 2 to 3 wifes each and yeah where does all that man power go!, pakistanis and indians are very well qualified doctors and everywhere :)

Well, I am no Indian, Pakistani, no american, european... any I do not complain..

Or well I don't live in UAE, but in Saudi. But I guess its the same situation here. I moved in purely, to gain international working experience, well of cause I don't deny the money isn't good.

But I don't intend to stay here long maximum 5 years and I am out either to the Americas, Canada or Aussy. I already lived in these countries through out my child hood. I know they are not as cheap as living in the Middle East...but there is always a sense of freedom and relaxation. I do travel to UAE more often, and I do enjoy the things there. Everybody, who lives there complain about living cost specially accommodation, but isn't that suppose to be subsidized by your employer. However, comparatively, living in Saudi is lot cheaper than UAE, but UAE is more fun.

I always, did love Europe, specially Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands.

Nevertheless, no country is same as your mother land cause you are freedom. They say you are the King of your country, and if you live else where you are third class citizen.

Lastly, a comment about the Indians and the chinese. Well, they are the fastest growing population in the world. And whether you like it or not they will be every where. In future, your children or your children's children....will even marry them. In near future, the world will be over populated, currently there is 4.4 births every second compared to 1.8 deaths per second.

And most of them are from developing countries such as Indian, India will be the largest nation in the world by 2030. So expect more indian to the middle east.

If, you want to know the truth I personally like to live in outter space or in Mars when every its possible by 2050.

no place in the entire world would be considered as an easy life, when the crises riches to any part of the universe, its affects on all over the places, so in this case , we can't said that UAE was not affected, the UAE is a very small and young country, easy to control and manage the population of emirates. why do other countries can be more in crimes and crises? just its simply, coz of huge amount of population and older historical influences.

i would advice to the all foreigners to love their own countries , and remember , we was and will be always a guest of the foreign countries, we should not blame their rules, we are the one who made the choice to be there. let us love and keep respect on those countries which gave us their hospitality.

i hate talking about nationalities, i like Peace, kindness, let us live all together as one whole family, let us stop discriminating, pleaseeeeeees people,, life is too short, why to waste our time just for the nonsense

love and care to all human-beings!!!!!!!!

"when Emiratis have 2-3 wives very commonly, with no less than 4-5 kids from each wife, where does all the manpower go?"

Dont forget that UAE is only 39 years old, but expats already feel fear of emiratisation? Why.. because all these 2,3 wifes had delivered exact number of future replacements for you, me and everybody else....

Locals suffer as we do suffer, maybe they do not have visa issues, but it is not easy to feed such large families, to provide all with necessities and do not forget that in arab world men are the ones who bring food in the house. Females dont start working by the age of 16 as in Europe, they might work after completion of their studies or even after they get kids.

Do not think that all locals have great salaries, some of my UAE friends are still struggling to find a job with their University degree and they are willing to accept any just to start working and not to depend on their parents and brothers.

If you decide to stay and willing to accept whatever is given to you and not to complain - then stay. But please, if you fail to manage your own life and failed to negotiate your salary - do not blame anyone but yourself. UAE has given you an opportunity....be thankful

Well,

As an Iranian nationality, I was forced to leave UAE, although I was born there and studied over there.

When ever I applied for work, either I was accepted or was rejected at the interviews, and when I was accepted at the interviews I was still rejected because of the working visa issues for Iranians in Dubai.

Same thing goes to my dad after living there for 30 years and having his own company in Dubai, one day his local sponsor decided not to renew my dad's company license, which his visa was on the same company, so without giving any visa release my dad was also forced to terminate his job and gaining the same status as mine! Now the european countries that you have mentioned don't need a local sponsor to build up a company and stay there, however in UAE you do need a sponsor unless the company is in duty free zone... Plus, most local sponsors in UAE have to get some share of the company, no matter what role they do or don't! so thats some kind of "Hidden Tax" for some company holders...

About the costs of a doctor visit, there isn't much difference between them if you have insurance, again the medical costs varies between employers in UAE and it's not fixed! some company's only give 30% of total cost and the rest yourself...

All europeans countries have minimum hourly wage...I don't think UAE do so, for example, a salesperson with 5 years experience, and a salary of 2500 or 3000 AED per month, how can anyone have a tax on that?

Sure the government isn't responsible for the salaries, but the Goverment has imposed a rule in Dubai that every company there should atleast have one local working in the company, but what about other living factors? such as traffic fines and communication costs? UAE has one of the most expensive fines/communication costs out there!

and did you notice why the local salaries are twice the salaries of expats? and some jobs are given only to locals? who controls those or praises those rules?

Now I'm living in USA and now I'm doing everything which I couldn't do in UAE, most importantly, studying in college! why? because as a regular guy, I didn't have the funds for it! and there isn't a single company in Dubai offering student loans!

After all these that I have been through, I still love UAE and would love to come back, because I was born there and had good memories from there too as a child!

Cheers!

When anyone has to pay visa, doctor fee, taxes etc in Europe,US or Canada, they also get nationality there.

My daughter was not studying well when it was the second year of father's contract, for the fear of uprooting everything and start in a bit different system back home,in case the contract did not get renewed. When the contract got renewed, her grades improved! This is the level of certainty here.

I know locals have a subsidized flat rate for DEWA,but I also feel sorry when my local Emirati neighbors wash their drive way two times a day and the water coming out of their house has made a long trail on the road, cracking it at places. Not to mention the 20 plus lights on the boundary wall and gate which are kept ON whole night.

If locals were competitive enough, there was not any need of expats in the first place. Why is it that India,Pakistan and China manage just about any kind of work themselves?

And no need to put 6 month ban on locals until they can apply again for any government position, if they have refused to wear uniform to work!

@Nihil:

Migration was done by the Holy Prophet (SAW) too...when there was the need of it, so theirs nothing new!

I was not being sarcastic...Doctors from India,Pakistan and China also migrate to US/UK and bus drivers from Korea and farm workers also from Mexico. Its everyone's own potential.

Pakistanis are not only taxi drivers in Dubai.Check American Hospital Dubai's doctor's list and you'll know how many Pakistani doctors who studied in Pakistan, also worked in US/Canada/UK, are working there.

One thing I fail to understand, when Emiratis have 2-3 wives very commonly, with no less than 4-5 kids from each wife, where does all the manpower go? While those races who have one wife normally, their people are seen everywhere? maybe they have more Barakah in their population :)

( No - everything has to be cheap or for free. Please complain to your own Govt. putting you in a situation not to make a living in your own home country! ) .. I love what you said :) and I am 100% agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee .. Just tell me how many Expats left UAE .. or even if they leave they wount come back ... it just reminded me about ( UAE is full ........ go Home ) .. instead of increasing our Emirati population we are increasing the Expats population .. and the Emirati population is decreased and that was confirmed after the last study done by the UAE government ... Even the Emirati family start decrease the number of children that they have .... so if we will stay like that .. The Emirati will be threatened by extinction :)
